BOSTON – The Suffolk men's golf team will tee off its 2023 campaign with a head-to-head match against Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Wentworth Friday, Sept. 1. Tee time at the George Wright Golf Club is scheduled for 1 p.m.

RAMS REWIND
Suffolk earned a spot in the CCC Championship Tournament for the second time in as many seasons a qualifier was played. The Rams finished fourth at the conference championships. The highlight of the year featured the blue-and-gold's top-10 performance at NEIGAs as the team put together a ninth-place showing, the first top-10 finish for the program since 2019.

More than half of Suffolk's 11-man roster returns seniors James RooneyVijay SakuruCameron SinopoliAdam Staiti, Mauro Stanchieri, junior Jake Zirlin and sophomore Christopher Sinopoli are back in blue-and-gold.  

RAMS RINGLEADER
For the third straight season, Cameorn Sinopoli will take on the Suffolk men's golf captain role solo, second-year head coach Ken DiMaggio announced Thursday.

ROOKIES ROOKIES
Suffolk men's golf will have a quartet of new players on its roster in 2023 head coach Ken DiMaggio announced. A trio are transfers in Trey ConnollyJonathan Donovan and Tyler Ryan, while Ryan Mollica will start his collegiate career as a Ram.

GEOGRAPHY 101
The Rams come to Boston from four different states. Six student-athletes are from the Bay State with other U.S. natives hailing from Connecticut, Illinois and Maine. 

Two Rams are international based. Vijay Sakuru and Mauro Stanchieri made the trip from Bangalore, India and El Hatillo, Venezuela, respectively. 

CLASS CATEGORIES
The 2022-23 Suffolk men's golf team is senior class heavy with five members of the Class of 2024. There are three juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. 

COACH'S CORNER
Ken DiMaggio was hired as the newest head coach of Suffolk's men's golf prior to the 2022-23 and begins his second season with the Rams this year. 

TEEING OFF
For the first time in the year-by-year record book, which dates through the 2008 campaign, Suffolk will lift the lid on its scheduled in a head-to-head match. 

HEAD-TO-HEAD

  • The Rams are 1-1 in head-to-head matches under Ken DiMaggio's guidance. 
  • A year ago, Suffolk defeated Wentworth, 325-327, and fell to then-No. 21 Babson, 305-321. 

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk has faced Wentworth in head-to-head bouts once over the last two years. 
  • The Rams are unbeaten, 2-0, over the last seasons against the Leopards. 

THE COURSE
The George Wright Golf Club in Boston is familiar to Suffolk, having competed on the course ever since except one since 2011-12.

It is a Donald Ross public golf course in Hyde Park, Massachusetts that was opened in 1938 after receiving President Roosevelt's Workers Progress Administration (WPA) funding to complete the construction.

SUFFOLK'S SCHEDULE
Next weekend the Rams trek to Middlebury, Vermont for the Duke Nelson Invitational. The invite spans two days at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
