Men’s Golf Takes Ninth at NEIGA Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf put an exclamation point on its fall season as the Rams claimed ninth at the 87th New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship over the weekend.

The Rams broke into the top 10 for the first time since 2019, when Suffolk finished sixth, behind a two-day team card of 611. After the first day on the green at The Captains Golf Course, the blue-and-gold sat in a share of 10th with its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterpart Roger Williams with a 307 and shaved three strokes off that performance on day two on the course to move up a spot.

Mauro Stanchieri put together his best showing at the regional event. The junior shared 23rd after shooting 75 each day on the Cape. That performance upstaged his 26th-place finish from a year ago.

In his first NEIGA, Vijay Sakuru tied for 36th with a 153. Jake Zirlin and Cameron Sinopoli were separated by one stroke. Zirlin shot a 156 over the two days, good for a share of 50th, while Cameron SInopoli logged a 157 to tie for 52nd.

Christopher SInopoli rounded out the Rams on the course with a share of 68th behind a two-day score 163.

Suffolk will be idle until spring of 2023. The Rams full spring slate, that will feature the 2023 CCC Golf Championships, will be released following the New Year.
