Men’s Golf Competes at Roger Williams Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Suffolk men's golf had final prep for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships Monday when it took the green at the Green Valley Country Club for the Roger Williams Invitational.  

The Rams took ninth in the 10-team field, that featured conference counterparts Endicott, Roger Williams, Western New England and Gordon. Suffolk shot a combined 364 to land ahead of Emmanuel (393). The Gulls won the event with a team card of 311. The host Hawks field two squads, both of which finished inside the top five.  

Individually, sophomores Vijay Sakuru and Cameron Sinopoli placed within the top 25. In his second collegiate competition, Sakuru shot an 86, good for a share of 22nd. Sinopoli was one stroke behind Sakuru to tie for 24th. 

Nichols Kirby shot a 93, good for 41st. Jake Zirlin and Chris Talbot, both of who made their blue-and-gold debut, finished one after another in 44th and 45th, respectively. Zirlin shot a 98 and Talbot tallied a 99.  

Suffolk will conclude its 2021-22 season this weekend when it plays for the CCC Crown at the Raceway Golf Club in Thompson, Connecticut April 30-May 1.
