Men’s Golf Qualifies for CCC Championships

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine – In its first year competing at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Qualifier, the Suffolk men's golf team performed how it needed to seal its spot in the 2022 CCC Championships. The Rams finished fourth in the fall qualifier to lock in the fourth and final spot in the championship field.   

The blue-and-gold took fourth after shooting a combined 338 on the 6,684-yard, par 72 Dunegrass golf Club. Nichols topped the eight-team field with a score of 319, while Endicott fired a score of 321. The University of New England's 327 was good for third.  

Suffolk secured the spot after narrowly edging out reigning CCC Champ Western New England (340) by two strokes. Gordon (343), Roger Williams (349) and Wentworth (349) rounded out the field.  

Leading the way for the Rams was sophomore Mauro Stanchieri, who finished tied for fourth with a +6, 78, just two strokes shy of the third-place performer, Ryan Zogby of Western New England. Fellow sophomore Cameron Sinopoli shared 14th with an 84, while freshman Jake Zirlin was one stroke behind to hold a share of 18th. 

Rounding out the Rams' scorecard was junior Nicholas Kirby with a 91.  

Suffolk will now take a few weekends off before competing at the Blazers Invitational at the Hickory Ridge County Club in Amherst, Massachusetts, Oct. 9-10.
