BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball connected on 10 field goals from 3-point land and shot 48.4 percent from the floor to take down Hartford, 83-56, Tuesday night in non-conference action at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 83 | Hartford 56
RECORDS: Suffolk (12-9) | Hartford (6-16)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of a 6-all tie, Suffolk took a one-possession, two-point edge, that remained 10-8 when Hartford used its first timeout of the night at the 11:47 mark.

The huddle helped the Rams find their shooting grove as Cole LeVangie knocked down triples on back-to-back possessions to push the host ahead, 16-8, with 10:45 on the clock.

Hartford tried to fly back and used four freebies to do so, however, Suffolk scored 15 unanswered to make things lopsided, 31-12, with just under four minutes remaining in the first half. Nick Verdile supplied five points and Keenan Robertson was responsible for six of that offensive stretch.

The Hawks poured in six straight points, which forced Jeff Juron to use a timeout with 1:06 to go before the teams headed to the locker rooms The Rams gained composure out of the break as Danny Yardemian sandwiched buckets, one outside the arc and one in, around a Hawks' hoop a 36-20 advantage at the intermission.

Suffolk shot ahead even further in the first two minutes of the second stanza as Yardemian's second trifecta of the night padded the lead to 42-20.

It appeared that Hartford would comeback as it got the distance down to 13, 51-38, with just under 12 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Rams regained a comfortable cushion, 68-40, thanks to a 17-2 run. That scoring stretch saw treys from Devin Dzikas, LeVangie and Yardemian.

Suffolk did not let up as LeVangie's fourth long ball of the night pushed the margin to 31, 72-41, at the 6:43 mark.

This time, the Rams did not allow the Hawks to get back into the thick of things as they continuously hit shots to keep the Hawks in a 25-plus point deficit en route to a x-x victory.
