Robertson Hits 1000th, Men’s Basketball Beats Hartford, 75-67

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Junior Keenan Robertson became one of the fastest Rams to achieve the 1,000-point milestone in Suffolk men's basketball's 75-67 victory over Hartford Wednesday night at Chase Arena.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 75 | Hartford 67
RECORDS: Suffolk (8-7) | Hartford (6-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Out of a 6-all tie, a triple by Cole LeVangie sparked a 9-2 Rams run that sent Suffolk in front 17-8, which forced Hartford into a timeout at the 12:05 mark.

The Hawks clipped the distance down to five, 20-15, before Suffolk scored eight unanswered to take a 13-point, 28-15 cushion, with just over six minutes to play in the first half.

That advantage grew to as many as 16, 35-19, after three consecutive Rams hoops – a pull up jumper by Evan Cook, baseline 3-pointer from Nick Verdile and a layup from Jake Gomez.

The Hawks poured in five points to end the opening stanza to chip the Rams lead to 11, 35-24, when the teams headed to the locker room.

Suffolk's edge was threatened as Hartford got the distance down to four, 50-46, with 11:31 on the clock.

Robertson took over for the Rams as he went on a 7-0 run of his own to restore the double figure margin, 57-46, and forced the Hawks to take a timeout.

The blue-and-gold managed to remain in front the rest of the way thanks to finesse at the free throw line.
