Men’s Basketball’s Streak Stopped at WNE, 76-50

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball's three-game win streak came to an end Tuesday night as Western New England took down the Rams, 76-50, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After the score tied twice and the lead switched on two occasions in the first few minutes, Western New England put Suffolk in a nine-point, 17-8, hole, which forced Jeff Juron to take a timeout at the 12:35 mark.  

That distance continued to stretch, and the Rams found themselves down 15, 39-24, at the break. 

Despite its best efforts, Suffolk could not find its way out of the double figure hole that grew to as many as 26, which stood at the final buzzer, 76-50. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Evan Cook had a team-best 11 points and four handouts to lead the Rams offense. He added one rebound and one steal.
  • Jake Gomez pitched in 10 points on a 5-for-7 performance form the floor to go along with a team-high four caroms. 
  • Cole LeVangie and Danny Yardemian pitched in eight points apiece.

Suffolk is back in Boston Saturday, Jan. 13 for a 3:00 p.m. CCC clash with Nichols.
