Juron Wins 100th, Men’s Basketball Downs UNE, 70-61, in Season Finale

BOSTON – Head coach Jeff Juron picked up his 100th career victory as Suffolk men's basketball put together a team effort Saturday afternoon to wrap up its 2022-23 regular-season with a victory as the Rams took down the University of New England 70-61 at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 70 | University of New England 61
RECORDS: Suffolk (16-9, 11-7 CCC) | University of New England (2-23, 0-18 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the first four minutes. Over the next two, the University of New England chipped down the deficit to one, 9-8.

The Nor'Easters went on to take the lead, 13-12, and a back-and-forth affair ensued. From there, the conference counterparts would exchange the lead five more times and the score leveled four throughout the remainder of the opening half, that ended with Suffolk in front, 36-32.

Suffolk slowly built a double-digit distance, 53-42, 6:29 into the second stanza. The Rams maintained the double figure margin until the final six minutes when the Nor'Easters started to knock down the gap once again. This time, UNE sliced the blue-and-gold's advantage to three, 62-59, with 1:42 remaining in regulation.

After a Suffolk turnover, UNE missed two opportunities to lock things up. Time then played in Suffolk's favor and they took care of business from the foul line to seal up the win.
