Men’s Basketball Tops Gordon, 75-60

BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball returned to the friendly confines of Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court in winning fashion as four Rams poured in double figures to lead the blue-and-gold to a 75-60 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Gordon Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 75 | Gordon 60
RECORDS: Suffolk (15-8, 10-6 CCC) | Gordon (9-14, 5-11 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk put the first points on the board and built an 11-point lead twice, the last when Keenan Robertson converted an offensive rebound into two points at the 9:05 minute mark.

Gordon found its grove out of its own timeout as it outscored the Rams, 16-2, to flip the script in its favor, 31-28, with 3:31 remaining in the first half.

Conor Creane regained the advantage for the Rams when he knocked down his first trey of the day. That bucket from behind-the-arc sparked a half-ending 8-0 Suffolk stretch that sent the host into the locker room ahead, 38-32.

Right out of half time, Suffolk scored six straight, two from Robertson and four by Jake Gomez, to double the distance, 44-32. The Rams remained in front, 48-34, when Gordon took a timeout at the 16:48 mark.

Out of the huddle, Creane got hot from downtown. The graduate student compiled a 9-2 stretch of his own, all on hoops from 3-point range, to extend the host advantage to 57-36.

Thanks to that 20-plus point cushion, Suffolk was able to keep the Fighting Scots at bay the rest of the way to lock up the conference victory.
