Men’s Basketball Upends Roger Williams, 78-63, for Sixth Straight Win

BRISTOL, R.I.  – Six Rams produced double figures in scoring to send Suffolk men's basketball to its sixth victory in a row, a 78-63 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) triumph Tuesday night at the Hawks' Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk scored the nine first points of the evening over the first four minutes and Roger Williams responded with a 9-2 run of its own to keep things close, 11-9, at the 12:00 mark.

It stayed a two-point game, 21-19, in the blue-and-gold's favor over the next four minutes before Jeff Juron used a full timeout. Out of the huddle, Suffolk slowly charged ahead by double digits, 37-27, with just under four minutes to go before halftime. 

The Rams outscored the Hawks, 9-4 the rest of the way to take a 46-31 cushion into the locker room.  

Suffolk maintained the double figure margin throughout the entire second half and built as large as a 19-point gap, 60-41, when Conor Creane buried a triple. The Hawks did not get closer than 14 points the rest of the way and the Rams cruised to their sixth straight win. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Keenan Robertson registered a game-high 19-point performance on a 7-for-14 effort from the field and 4-for-4 showing from the foul line. He added three boards and two assists. 
  • William Rowe did not miss from the floor. He made all six shots he attempted to finish with 14 points to go along with seven caroms, one dime and one takeaway. 
  • Cole LeVangie logged 14 points, nine boards, six helpers and one steal. 
  • Aidan Sullivan had 11 points on a 4-for-7 showing from the floor that included a 3-for-6 effort from behind-the-arc, with six set-ups, five boards and two takeaways. 
  • Jake Gomez pitched in 10 points, one board and one swat off the bench. 
  • Suffolk shot nearly 50 percent (49.2) on the night. 
  • From three, the Rams converted 35.0 percent (7-20) and did not miss any of its nine free throws. 
  • Suffolk outrebounded Roger Williams, 41-20. 
  • Suffolk poured in 48 points in the paint. 
  • The Hawks capitalized on the Rams 12 turnovers, turning them into 14 points.  

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk pushed its win streak to six, the most victories in a row since stringing seven together Nov. 18-Dec. 9, 2022. 
  • The Rams defeated Roger Williams for the first time since Feb. 16, 2022, an 81-71 decision. 
  • Suffolk improved to 9-7 all-time against RWU. 
  • The Rams are 4-2 versus RWU with Juron on the bench. 
  • On the road, Suffolk is now 4-4 against Hawks.
