BIDDEFORD, Maine – Keenan Robertson of the Suffolk men's basketball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week status after helping the Rams to a 2-1 week, the league office announced Monday.
The weekly honor, Robertson's first of his career, comes after the freshman forward averaged 15.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. The Rochester, New York, is the first Ram to take home a weekly award from the CCC and is the first Suffolk student-athlete to grab a weekly recognition since Brendan Mulson '21 earned his fourth Great Northeast Athletics Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week Jan. 29, 2018.
To open the weekly action, Robertson poured in a double-double against first-place Nichols. His 19-point, 10-rebound effort, that also featured three handouts, propelled Suffolk past the Bison, 89-83. Two days later, he racked up a 10-point, four-rebound showing in an 81-71 win over Roger Williams. He wrapped up the week with 16 points, eight caroms and five dimes at Endicott.
Over the three-game span, Robertson shot 45.5 percent (15-33) from the field.
Robertson helped Suffolk to home hardwood advantage in its first CCC postseason appearance, which the fourth-seeded Rams tip off tomorrow, Tuesday, Feb. 22 against fifth-seed Endicott at 5:30 p.m. at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court.
