FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball cruised past Framingham State, 83-55, Saturday afternoon at the Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk opened the outing with a 10-2 spurt over the first three minutes. That early edge proved to be the difference maker for the remainder of the first frame as the Boston Rams had a response for every hoop FSU put away to take a nine-point, 40-31, advantage into half time.  

The first four minutes paid off for the blue-and-gold again. Suffolk went on a 12-4 run out of the locker room to build a 17-point, 52-35, cushion. 

That distanced doubled on a triple by Liam Cunnie at the 2:43 minute mark and to as many as 36 when Ray Bosquet banked in a lay-up with 1:51 remaining in regulation. 

Framingham State scored eight straight points, all on lay-ups though, for the final 83-55 margin.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Three players provided double figures in scoring anchored by Keenan Robertson's 17-point performance on a 7-for-9 showing from the floor. Defensively he grabbed seven boards to go with a pair of steals and one swat.
  • John Gates notched 14 points on a 5-for-9 showing from the floor and 2-for-5 effort from behind-the-arc. 
  • Nate Hale had 10 points to go along with three caroms and two dimes. 
  • Kyle Phillips pitched in six caroms, five points and two steals. 
  • William Rowe registered eight points and four rebounds. 
  • As a team Suffolk shot 43.9 percent (29-66) from the floor, 37.9 percent (11-29) from downtown and 70.0 percent (14-20) at the free throw line. 
  • The Boston Rams outrebounded the Framingham Rams, 43-40. 
  • Suffolk's reserves out played Framingham's, supplying 27 points to the blue-and-gold's offensive output.   

NOTEWORTHY

  • Suffolk defeated Framingham State for the fourth straight meeting to level the all-time series at 15-15. 
  • The blue-and-gold is unbeaten, 4-0, when playing FSU with Jeff Juron on the bench. 
  • The four wins in a row over the Framingham Rams is the most since opening the series with six straight triumphs Jan. 27, 1971 through Dec. 12, 1976.
  • Robertson registered a career-high in points (17), field goals made (7), rebounds (7), assists (1), steals (1) and blocks (3). 
  • Phillips provided a personal-best in points (5), free throws made (3), rebounds (6) and steals (2). 
  • Devin Dzikas grabbed a career-high three caroms. 
  • Abdulahi Aden, Bosquet, Cunnie and Jack McDonnell all made their collegiate debuts.
