BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball will play in front of Ram Nation at the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for the first time in its 76th season Thursday, Nov. 18 when it entertains No. 11 Tufts. Tip-off in the basement of the Ridgeway Building is set for 7 p.m.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite an early advantage, Suffolk men's basketball could not hold off a stingy scoring attack from the Beavers and Babson handed the Rams their first loss of the season, 91-66, Sunday night at Staake Gymnasium.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk splits its opening-weekend action at the Babson Invitational with a 92-78 win over Coast Guard and a 91-66 setback to the hosts Beavers to head into Thursday's tilt 1-1. 

Nate Hale powers the Rams' offensive output with 17.0 ppg. John Gates is second on the squad in scoring with 12.0 ppg with Aidan Sullivan (11.5) and Cole LeVangie (10.5) rounding out the quartet of blue-and-gold student-athletes averaging double figures.

Defensively, William Rowe, who chips in 9.0 ppg, leads the team on the glass with 7.5 rpg. LeVangie adds 6.0 rpg and Hale and Keenan Robertson chip in 5.5 rpg apiece.

JUMBOS JIST
Tufts, who opened the year at No. 11 in the D3Hoops.com Preseason Poll, fell at UMass Dartmouth, 92-71, in its season opener. 

The Jumbos saw a trio of players produce double digits in points. Tyler Aronson's 15 led the way, while Dylan Thoerner and Carson Cohen notched 14 and 11, respectively. Thoerner was one of two players to pull down six caroms with Luke Rogers matching that effort on the boards. Aronson added five rebounds to the team's 38-rebound effort.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Tufts will tangle for the 36th time overall, first since the Rams' stunned the Jumbos, 89-78, Jan. 14, 2020.
  • The Rams sit 5-30 all-time against Tufts.
  • Suffolk is unbeaten, 1-0, versus the Jumbos under Jeff Juron's guidance.
  • In Boston, the blue-and-gold is 1-15 all-time against the Jumbos. This record does not include games from 1969-73 due to unknown locations.
  • Suffolk and Tufts went into overtime once, Nov. 30, 1999. The Jumbos came out of the extra session victorious, 76-74.

HOME OPENERS

  • Suffolk has rattled off four wins in a row in its home opener.
  • The Rams are 4-2 all-time in its first home game of the season in the Jeff Juron era.

RANK AND FILE

  • Suffolk will meet its first top-25 foe since playing then-No. 19 Albertus Magnus Feb. 1, 2020.
  • The Rams beat the Falcons, 81-68, to be 1-0 when playing a top-25 opponent with Jeff Juron on the bench. 

RAMS-RAISER
The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) has partnered with the Student Government Association (SGA) and Suffolk's Black Student Union (BSU) to raise funds for The Yawkey Boys & Girls Club of Roxbury. Members of Ram Nation are encouraged to bring a donation to Thursday night's tilt and help reach the $250 fundraising goal. A door prize for Celtics, as well as Suffolk merchandise, will be raffled off for current Suffolk University student-athletes who make a donation.
