Men's Basketball Fall to Anna Maria 88-79

The Anna Maria College AMCATS defeated the Suffolk University Men's Basketball team 88-79 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Tuesday evening at the Regan Gymnasium.

Junior Branden Barboza (Riverside, R.I.) led all players scoring 27 points to pace the Rams offense, who fall to 8-15 on the season with the setback.

Five different AMCATS scored in double-digit scoring totals as junior Patrick Bradanese (Billerica, Mass.) led the way with 21 points. Graduate student Quantez Franklin (South Yarmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 17 points, followed by junior Tyler Delorey (Worcester, Mass.) adding 13.

Suffolk took a 42-40 lead into the break with them highlighted by an 11-point first half performance by sophomore Matt Duquette (Swamspcott, Mass.).

Both teams would trade leads for more than half of the second period until Franklin put the AMCATS up by a pair, 67-65 with 8:09 remaining in the game for good.

Delorey would score all 13 of his game's points in the second half for the AMCATS who improve to 14-10 on the year and 12-5 in conference.

Junior Adam Chick (Northbrook, Ill.) narrowly missed a triple-double on the night as he finished leading all players with 13 rebounds, scoring 10 points while also recording six assists.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) also scored 15 points on the night for Suffolk.

Anna Maria will round out their 2014-15 regular season on Saturday afternoon when they host Albertus Magnus College.

Suffolk will host Lasell College on Thursday evening at 7:00pm in the home finale before wrapping things up on Saturday when they travel to Emmanuel College.
