Men's Basketball Fall to Daniel Webster 90-88

The Suffolk University Men's Basketball fell to Daniel Webster College, 90-88 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening in Nashua, NH.

With eleven seconds remaining junior Ryan Gauthier (Nashua, N.H.) sunk a pair of free throws to lift the Eagles to victory after Suffolk nearly erased a 17-point deficit midway through the second half.

Junior Curtis Casella (Saugus, Mass.) scored 24 points off the bench to lead Suffolk. Casella would cap off a 13-4 run late in the second half with one of his two three-pointers in the half to pull within two points at 77-75.

After both teams would trade field goals over the following minutes, Casella put Suffolk up by a pair when he sunk three consecutive free throws with four minutes remaining.

Gauthier would then connect on a layup before junior Demetri Conwell (St. Paul, Minn.) put the Eagles back up by a pair with a field goal of his own.

Casella would continue his scoring touch as he evened things back up with a bucket at 2:14 and then second another three pointer to put Suffolk up 88-85 with 1:21 remaining.

Junior Tyler Lord (Goffstown, N.H.) would get the Eagles back within a point when he connected for two points, before Gauthier evened the game with forty-four seconds with a free-throw. Gauthier would then put the Eagles ahead for good when he sunk a pair of free-throws in the closing seconds.

Gauthier would finish the game leading all scorers with 30 points, including 19 in the second half.

Senior Sam Nwadike (Houston, Tx.) finished with 23 points for Sufolk, the third straight game he's scored at least 20 points in a contest.

Junior Jake Meister (Madison, N.J.) recorded a double-double for Suffolk as he scored 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

Junior Adam Chick (Northbrook, Ill.) also scored 11 points on the evening for Suffolk.

Sophomore Ray Farmer (Nashua, N.H.) finished with the double-double for the Eagles as he scored 15 points and led all players with 13 rebounds.

The loss drops Suffolk to a 1-2 mark on the season.

They'll be back in action on Thursday evening when they travel to UMass Boston for a non-conference matchup with the Beacons beginning at 7:00pm.
