Suffolk baseball pulled within one in the sixth but was unable to complete the comeback at UMass Boston as the Rams fell to the Beacons, 5-4, in the closer of a home-and-home series Thursday at Monan Park.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Four losses in a row put Suffolk at 12-12 on the season and 2-4 in CCC clashes.  

Jonny Gilbride's bat is on a seven-game hit streak and has supplied team-high numbers in hits (31), RBI (30) and runs scored (29) on a .333 batting average. Garret Roberts is consistent offensively as well with 29 hits, 16 RBI and 25 runs scored with a .387 connection rate.  

Roberts (36.0 IP, 30 Ks) will likely earn the start in one of the games on Saturday. Harry Painter (10.0 IP, 4.50 ERA, 17 Ks) is well rested and could get the nod, while Brett Bucklin (35.2 IP, 2.27 ERA, 25 Ks) could also be an option.  

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England has won three games in a row to move to .500 (10-10) on the year. In CCC contests, the Golden Bears are 1-2.  

Cody Waterbury and Jack Loftus are the top two threats at the dish with 20-plus hits each. Waterbury leads the team in hits (25), RBI (23) and runs scored (26). Loftus, meanwhile, has provided 23 hits, 22 RBI and 11 runs scored.  

Tanner Wall and Matt Lauria are the most well-rested arms in WNE's rotation. Wall boasts a 6.88 ERA over 17.0 innings pitched in four appearances, all starts, with 12 strikeouts. Lauria, meanwhile, has thrown 11.1 innings over five appearances, with 10 punchouts to his credit.
