Painter’s Bat Pushes Baseball Past North Central, 14-3

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Harry Painter went 4-for-4 at the dish with five RBI and was one triple shy of the cycle to anchor Suffolk baseball to a 14-3, seven-inning victory over North Central Thursday night at Lake Mrytle Park as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 14 | North Central 3
RECORDS: Suffolk (2-1) | North Central (1-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk hit around the order in the first two innings to hold a comfortable 8-2 cushion with two frames in the book. Painter contributed to the offensive output in the first two innings as the first baseman picked up his first RBI of the day on a double in his first plate appearance and brought in his second run with a base hit in the second.

Painter was responsible for plating Suffolk's lone run in the third with his second base knock of the day. North Central responded with one run of its own to keep the six-run distance intact.

After a scoreless fourth, Painter sent the ball over the left field and brought Garret Roberts, who walked, in with him to extend the blue-and-gold's advantage to 11-3.

North Central made numerous field changes to start the seventh including a change on the hill, its fourth pitching change of the outing. With two outs, Sebastian Lampert walked in his first collegiate bat and Alex Sorenti-Burns followed suit with a walk of his own to put a pair of ducks on the pond for Max Iorio. The junior barreled a deep ball to the center field fence that cleared the bags. Iorio took advantage of a wild pitch to cross the palte and extend the margin to 14-3.

Patrick Desmond shut down North Central in the seventh to seal-up Suffolk's second straight victory.
