Baseball Picked Fifth in CCC Preseason Poll

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball has been projected to finish fifth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Coaches' Preseason Poll, the league announced Tuesday.

The Rams finished with 34 points in front of Gordon (23), Curry (16) and Wentworth (9). The fifth place prediction is the highest for the blue-and-gold after sliding into sixth the last two seasons.

Endicott, two-time reigning CCC Champion, is picked to threepeat as the Gulls secured seven first place votes to take 63 points.

The remaining first place vote landed on Nichols' ballot as the Bison slid into fourth, nine points ahead of Suffolk.

Western New England (52) and Roger Williams (46) took spots second and third, respectively.

Suffolk is set for its fourth season in the CCC and aims to reach the playoffs for the fourth time in as many years.

Head coach Anthony Del Prete, who enters his 10th season as Suffolk's skipper, has just eight returners on his 30-player roster. Highlighting the players back in blue-and-gold are 2023 All-CCC performers Harry Painter and Garret Roberts, as well as shortstop Jonny Giilbride.

Suffolk's season is set to get underway on the Rams' home diamond East Boston Memorial Park Sunday, March 3 with a non-conference twinbill versus Lasell. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
