CSC RELEASE | CSC Academic All-District

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball's Luke Harder and Max Iorio added an academic accomplishment to their Rams' resumes as the duo received College Sports Communications (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the national organization announced Tuesday.

Awarded by CSC, formerly known as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), to the most accomplished student-athletes for combined academic and athletic achievements each year since 1952, this is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athletic award for student-athletes to receive.

The 2023 Academic All-District Baseball Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. All nominees must have a GPA of at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), be a starter or important reserve, and have competed in at least 50 percent of a team's competition.

Harder, a two-time All-CCC third-team selection, has compiled a 3.665 cumulative GPA over four years as a finance major. Iorio, a sophomore studying management, holds a 3.648 GPA after three semesters in the classroom.

Suffolk was one of six Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) members to have a student-athlete make the list. Endicott, Nichols and Wentworth had the maximum five players receive the nod, while Curry had three players pick up the feat and Gordon matched Suffolk with two honorees. Overall, there were 714 recipients from NCAA Division III.

Harder and Iorio are the first Suffolk baseball teammates to receive the recognition in the same season and first members of the program to take home the feat since Christian Seariac did so in 2021. Overall, the Rams' baseball team has seen 11 student-athletes earn Academic All-District status, five of which have come in the Anthony Del Prete era.

With the addition of Harder and Iorio, Suffolk has 49 academic all-district accolades in its history from the CSC dating back to 2004, 38 of which have come in the last seven seasons including 25 in 2022-23 alone.

Harder and Iorio now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Tuesday, June 6. For a full list of CSC Academic All-District Baseball Teams, click here.
