Painter Named All-NEBJ

NEBJ RELEASE

BOSTON – The New England Baseball Journal has tabbed the best of the best from the region as the organization announced its annual All-NEBJ team with Suffolk baseball's own Harry Painter on the list.

The All-NEJB team is comprised of the top New England players from each position. Painter is the only freshman picked to the 2022 All-NEBJ squad. The designated hitter was joined by his Co-CCC Player of the Year Caleb Shpur of Endicott and Salve Regina's Dominic Perachi on the distinguished list. A native of Essex, Massachusetts, Painter has garnered quiet the award haul this season including D3baseball.com First-Team All-America status to go along with all-region nods from both D3Baseball.com, as well as the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) in conjunction with the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and Rawlings, as well as unanimous first-team All-CCC honors.

These recognitions come after a breakout season for the right-handed DH who that helped Suffolk secure its first CCC postseason victory, a 9-3 play-in win over seventh-seed Gordon May 9.

Painter safely hit in all, but four games he made a plate appearance to finish with a .403 average.  He logged 64 hits, which included a dozen long balls, just one shy of Suffolk's single-season record held by Tamayo Manzanillo in 2005, to finish with 118 total bases, good for a share of second on the Rams' single-season list with Brady Chant (2018) and 13 shy of the record held of 131 by Joe Duca set 22 seasons ago. He is the first everyday Ram to produce 60-plus hits in a single year since Tim Brigham notched 60 hits in 2019, while his 64 hits are the most since Chant registered 69 in 2017.

Behind his 64 hits, Painter plated 47 runs, which marks the first time a Suffolk batter had 40-plus RBI since Jake Frasca registered 40 in 2016. The 47 RBI are the most for a Ram since Bobby Barrett produced 69 in 2009. In addition to the runs he brought in, he scored 42 himself.
