D3baseball.com Names Painter First-Team All-America

BOSTON – Suffolk baseball's sophomore designated hitter Harry Painter made history as he picked up first-team All-America status from D3baseball.com, the national organization announced Wednesday morning.

The Essex, Massachusetts's native first-team nod on June 1 is the highest postseason honor from D3baseball.com in the Rams' history. Painter is just the third Suffolk student-athlete to collect a spot on D3baseball.com's All-America team, joining Brady Chant '18 and Bobby Barrett '09, who both grabbed spots on respective honorable mention teams in 2017 and 2009.

Painter is the 10th All-American in Suffolk's baseball history, third recognized by D3baseball.com, and first-ever first-teamer from any organization. The remaining seven All-America accolades in the Rams' record books have been awarded by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) with a pair of second-teamers (Mike Maguire – 2003, Mike Cunningham, 2013) and five third-team honorees.

The right-handed batter secured a spot on the first-team in the 15th edition of the D3baseball.com All-America team, which saw over 1,000 players nominated, and was one of three Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) players to make the prestigious list as starting pitcher Dominic Perachi of Salve Regina grabbed a first team nod as well, while Endicott's outfielder Caleb Shpur made the fifth team.

The first-team all-region honoree from D3baseball.com and the ABCA in conjunction with Rawlings, Painter had 64 hits and 47 RBI on his way to unanimous first-team All-CCC honors. Behind a .403/.461/.742 slash line, the 2022 CCC Player of the Year racked up 118 total bases, thanks to 12 homers, which put him one away from Suffolk's single-season record of 13, held by Tamayo Manzanillo in 2005. He earned CCC Player of the Week once, on March 29, and successfully hit in all, but one game he made a plate appearance.
