Baseball Smashes Wentworth in Nightcap, 19-1

EAST BOSTON – After a scoreless first frame, Suffolk put up multiple runs in the second and kept its foot on the gas pedal with multiple runs in every four innings to topple Wentworth, 19-1, in seven innings in the second game of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) twinbill Saturday at East Boston Memorial Park

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 19 | Wentworth 1
RECORDS: Suffolk (22-18, 6-10 CCC) | Wentworth (13-18, 3-13 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 1-0 after Wentworth got on the board in the top of the first, Suffolk got on the board in the bottom of the second. Errors by the Leopards let the first Rams level the playing field before Christian Seariac sliced a two-run triple down the right field line to push the host in front by a pair, 3-1.

Suffolk really took control in its next turn at the plate. The Rams batted around the order and built a 10-1 cushion in the process. The inning featured a single RBI by Jonny Gilbride, a two-run, two-bagger by Michael James Jr., an RBI double for Blase Cormier and a three-run jack by Christian Seariac.

Base hits and walks resulted in six more runs for Suffolk in the fourth that made it a 16-1 game.

The scoring carried into the fifth with three more runs for the 19-1 final. Gilbride and Gino Desimone each brought in one run on a base hit, while Ben Isaak, who singled and stole second, came in when Seariac grounded into a 643-double play.
