BOSTON – Coming off back-to-back road wins, Suffolk baseball takes its talents to Western New England Saturday, April 23 for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) twinbill. Game one has a 12 p.m. start.

Suffolk baseball took an eight-run lead into the bottom of the ninth, the Corsairs caught up to force extra-innings where the Rams took care of business to take a 12-10 victory over UMass Dartmouth Thursday at the UMD Baseball Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk moved two games over .500 with wins over Lasell (11-6) and UMass Dartmouth (12-10). Conference wise, the Rams are 2-7 against CCC counterparts.  

As a team, Suffolk has scored 243 runs this season, just over eight runs per game. The top contributors to the blue-and-gold offense are Luke HarderJoe Ward and Harry Painter. Harder and Ward have brought in 34 runs apiece. Harder, who is hitting .377, has a team-best 46 hits, including a squad-high 12 doubles, with 25 runs scored. Ward owns 34 hits and 30 runs scored. Painter has produced 44 hits, 19 of which have been extra base knocks highlighted by nine homers, behind a .411/.463/.776 slash line.  

Pitching wise, the Rams are likely to use EJ Birch (3.38 ERA, 21.1 IP, 16 K) and Garret Roberts (19.2 IP, 18 K) in the starting role. Casey Sullivan (24.0 IP, 17 K) and Nick Reiser (33.1 IP, 30 K) have been successful relievers for the Rams. 

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England slipped to Rhode Island College Thursday, 14-9, to dip to 13-12-1 on the year. In the CCC, the Golden Bears defeated Nichols, 14-2, in seven innings to improve to a 4-5 in league play.  

CJ Willis the biggest threat at the plate. The first-year infielder has team-leading numbers in hits (42), RBI (32) and runs scored (33) on a .396/.450/.764 slash line. Ben Harrison (29 H, 23 RBI, 12 R) and Sean Jamieson (28 H, 16 RBI, 15 R) round out the top three batters for the Golden Bears. 

Kevin Hummer and Matt Lauria are WNE's usual conference starters on the hill. Hummer holds a 2.87 ERA through 37.2 innings with 34 strikeouts. Lauria, meanwhile, brings in a 3.86 ERA over 35.0 frames with 20 punchouts. Robert Zawacki (7.36 ERA, 25.2 IP, 19 K) has also earned his fair share of nods. Jared Kuryan (2.45 ERA, 11.0 IP, 15 K) is the Golden Bears go to arm out of the pen, especially to close.
