Salve Regina Handles Baseball in Nightcap

EAST BOSTON – Salve Regina proved to be too much for Suffolk baseball in game two of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader as the Seahawks downed the Rams, 14-2, at East Boston Memorial Park

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 2 | Salve Regina 14
RECORDS: Suffolk (14-13, 2-6 CCC) | Salve Regina (15-8-2, 8-0-2 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Salve Regina would score runs in every other inning, while the Seahawks pitcher limited Suffolk to just a pair, one apiece in the third and fifth frames, respectively, for the lopsided final.

Down 5-0, Suffolk erased the shutout in the third. Shane Lake led off the inning with a ground-rule double to right center. Two outs later, Christian Seariac plated the Rams' catcher behind a single to left field.

Two innings later the Rams would score again. Seariac would be responsible for the run brought in again, this time the third baseman used a 4-3 ground out to help Timothy McCarthy home. McCarthy reached on a single to right field and advanced to third behind Jonny Gilbride's ground-rule double to left center.

McCarthy's run would not be enough to make a dent in the 10-2 hole the blue-and-gold found itself in after five innings in the books.

Over the next three innings the Rams were retired in order to keep Suffolk's score still. Salve Regina kept its foot on the gas pedal though with one run in the seventh and three in the ninth for the 14-2 final.
