Roger Williams Defeats Baseball in Game Two, 8-3

EAST BOSTON – Suffolk baseball's offense was limited to a single inning as pitching and double plays factored into the Rams 8-3 setback to Roger Williams in the nightcap of a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader at East Boston Memorial Park Saturday.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 3 | Roger Williams 8
RECORS: Suffolk (10-8, 1-4 CCC) | Roger Williams (17-1, 4-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Similar to the opener, Suffolk found itself down four early. The Rams managed to make their way onto the board in the bottom of the fourth. Christian Seariac and Harry Painter traded singles with outs, which sent Luke Harder to the plate with two dead and a runner in scoring position. The right fielder doubled to right field to score Seariac. Both Painter and Harder capitalized on a bobble by the Hawks' short stop when Blase Cormier put the ball into play to score a run apiece and pull the host within one, 4-3.

Roger Williams extended the edge back to a pair in the seventh and Suffolk saw a chance to get something going in the home half of the inning, however, Jonny Gilbride grounded into a double play to keep the gap at 5-3.

The Hawks scored twice in the eighth and one more in the ninth to grow their cushion to five. Roger Williams handle things from the hill as its relievers retired Suffolk's side in the final two frames for the 8-3 final.
