BOSTON –  Suffolk baseball will prep for its inaugural debut in the CCC tournament with a midweek non-conference clash against Roger Williams at East Boston Memorial Park Wednesday, April 28 at 3:30 p.m.

Suffolk baseball exploded for 19 hits and poured in 20 runs, including 11 in the sixth-inning alone, to mercy-rule Gordon, 20-5, in seven innings in game two of a non-conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at J. Tec White Field.

RAMS RUNDOWN
After going 3-1 against Gordon over the weekend, Suffolk holds an 11-9 overall record heading into the week. 

The Rams have three consistent offensive contributors in Christian Seariac (27 H, 13 RBI, 12 R), Tim Brigham (24 H, 13 RBI, 13 R) and Blase Cormier (24 H, 7 RBI, 15 R). Suffolk's entire everyday line-up will look to get reps Wednesday though with the playoffs on the weekend schedule. 

Similar to the offense, Suffolk make cycle in multiple arms in to get action prior to the postseason. Overall, the Rams pitchers have put together a 4.22 ERA with 112 strikeouts. EJ Birch leads the way with a 0.90 ERA over 20.0 innings in six appearances including two starts with 17 Ks.

HAVE TO KNOW 'BOUT THE HAWKS
Roger Williams heads into the midweek match 18-9 on the year, however, the Hawks have three losses in a row, one to Salve Regina and a pair at Nichols. 

RWU's offense is powered by Brandon Jenkins' 41 hits, 37 RBI and 25 runs scored. He anchors the 218-run offensive output. Tyler Cedeno (29 H, 28 RBI, 22 R) and Danny Roth (27 H, 33 RBI, 23 R) are also producers at the plate for the Hawks. 

Pitching wise, Roger Williams' staff has combined for a 4.91 ERA with an impressive 215 Ks. Justin Garcia leads the starting rotation with a 2.73 ERA and 57 punchouts over 33.0 innings. Ryan McGahern (1.13 ERA, 8.0 IP, 7 Ks) and Conor Gaughan (1.69 ERA, 5.1 IP, 7 Ks) and Kyle Schaefer (2.08 ERA, 17.1 IP, 8 Ks) have proven their worth as relief arms.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • The Suffolk, Roger Williams series is deadlocked at 6-6.
  • The Rams will meet the Hawks for the first time since a double feature at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational March 13, 2015. The foes split that twinbill with the Rams taking the nightcap, 3-2 in 12 innings.
  • Suffolk is 1-1 against RWU under Anthony Del Prete's guidance.
