Baseball Put Together Offensive Onslaught, Run-Rule 20-5 Game Two Win at Gordon

WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk baseball exploded for 19 hits and poured in 20 runs, including 11 in the sixth-inning alone, to mercy-rule Gordon, 20-5, in seven innings in game two of a non-conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at J. Tec White Field.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 20 | Gordon 5
RECORDS: Suffolk (11-9) | Gordon (7-15)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk took a 2-0 lead in the first frame behind an RBI-single by Blase Cormier followed by a sac fly from Tim Brigham. The score doubled in the second with back-to-back sac flies from Christian Seariac and Luke Harder

Gordon got back two runs in the bottom of the second behind Dalton Cody's two-RBI triple to center field.

A scoreless third was followed by a four-run Rams fourth. Seariac drew a bases loaded walk to start the rally that saw Harder and Gino Desimone sandwich base hits for RBI around Brigham's second sac fly of the day.

No ahead 8-2 Suffolk continued to pour in the runs in the fifth when Seariac doubled to left field to plate Rich Giandrea, who led off the inning with a single through the left side.

The Rams put the game away in the sixth though as the blue-and-gold batted through the order twice to put up 11 runs on nine hits to make it a lopsided outing, 20-2.

The Fighting Scots had a response for the sixth-inning offensive output by Suffolk with three runs of their own. One came in on Ismael Rivera's single up and middle and two followed thanks to Patrick Tevenan's double to left.

The score stayed still from there. Suffolk could not capitalize on its pair or base runners in the top of the seventh and Casey Sullivan retired the side in the home half of the inning to clinch the run-rule decision for the Rams.
