Endicott Defeats Baseball in Game One, 7-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk baseball fell in its third straight out against Endicott, 7-1, Sunday afternoon at North Field.  

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Endicott 7
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-8) | Endicott (10-5) 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Endicott grabbed a two-run lead in the second inning after Nickolas Perkins knocked a two-run bomb over the right field fence.  

Two innings later the Gulls doubled that distance in the bottom of the fourth to put Suffolk in a 4-0 hole. 

The Rams sliced the deficit down in the top of the fifth. Singles from Christian SeariacLuke Harder, and Timothy McCarthy chucked the bags to set up a base-hit RBI for Corey Frassica.

Suffolk did not rally around that solo run though, and the hosts matched that score with one of their one in the home half of the fifth and added two more in the sixth to walk away with the victory.   

PITCHERS PICTURE

  • George Breslin made his season debut and slipped to 0-1 after giving up two runs on three hits and one walk over 3.0 innings. 
  • Jake Washock allowed three runs on three hits and two walks with one strikeout in 2.0 innings of relief. 
  • Robert Shaw shoved 1.0 inning of relief in which he let up two runs on two hits and one walk. 
  • Nicholas Cannata put together a complete-game, one-run, five-hit, eight-strikeout effort.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Five different bats were responsible for Suffolk's hits. 
  • Blase Cormier, Harder, Frassica, McCarthy, and Seariac each supplied one it. 
  • Seariac scored one run, while Frassica brought in one.  

NOTEWORHTY

  • Frassica had the first hit and first RBI of his collegiate career. 
  • Washock worked a career-high two innings.
