Salve Regina Sets Back Baseball in Game One, 4-1

EAST BOSTON – An early deficit proved to be the difference for Suffolk baseball as Salve Regina defeated the Rams, 4-1, in the opening outing of a non-conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 1 | Salve Regina 4
RECORDS: Suffolk (5-4) | Salve Regina (7-0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk found itself chasing three early as the Sea Hawks scored a trio in the first frame. The Rams made up some ground in the bottom of second when Blase Cormier came in on Shane Lake's ground out to short. Cormier opened the inning with a single to left and worked his way around on Luke Harder's base hit to center and a passed ball.

Two innings later Salve Regina restored its three-run lead. Mat D'Amato drew a two-out walk, stole second and scored on Ant Cieszko's single through the left side to give the visitors a 4-1 edge.

The score hit a standstill from there as Suffolk's defense backed up its pitching and Salve Regina limited the Rams to just two base runners over the final four frames.
