Baseball's Jake Cintolo Named a Preseason All-American

Suffolk University Baseball senior Jake Cintolo (Wrentham, Mass.) was named a Preseason All-American for the upcoming 2014 season by D3Baseball.com.

Cintolo enters his senior season with 206 career hits, just 17 shy of the all-time Suffolk program mark of 223 set by Mike Maguire in2005 and 33 away from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) mark of 239 set by Alex Hurley '07 of Johnson & Wales University.

Last season Cintolo earned his third consecutive New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Region selection for New England. During the 2013 campaign he hit at a .398 average (68-for-171) with a team-high 44 runs scored while driving in 37 runs on 20 extra base hits. Cintolo also set the all-time Suffolk single season record with 18 doubles on the year, bringing his career total to 51, which stands as the most in both Suffolk and GNAC history.

In each of his first three seasons, Cintolo has recorded at least 60 hits in each of them. During his freshman campaign he set the all-time Suffolk single season record with 77 hits on the year.

Alongside his NEIBA honors, Cintolo has also been a three-time All-Conference selection by the GNAC. He was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team  by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2013 season.

Last summer Cintolo was named an All-Star in the Valley Baseball League, an NCAA-affiliated collegiate summer wood bat league in Virginia. Cintolo hit .288 in 37 games with six doubles for the Winchester Royals.

Cintolo was one of seven New England players named to the website's preseason team for this upcoming season. He was a second team selection.

Suffolk will open their 2014 schedule on March 7th against Gwynedd Mercy University as part of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Auburndale, Florida.
