Jackson Leads Suffolk to 2-1 Win Over Babson

Box Score

Wellesley, MA -- Senior Reid Jackson (Burlington, MA) threw a complete game, six hitter as Suffolk won their first game up north, in a 2-1 victory over Babson College Tuesday afternoon. Jackson and the Rams battled cold, windy conditions to win their fifth game over their last six contests.

Babson got out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when freshman Travis Jonnason (Needham, MA) doubled with two outs in the left center gap. Freshman Sean Cleary (Milton, MA) then singled through the left side knocking in Jonnason for the Beavers only run of the game.

Suffolk answered twice in the fourth for their only runs of the game. Senior Mike Kenneally (Georgetown, MA) got the inning started with a single. After being forced out at second on a fielder's choice hit into by sophomore Mark Addesa (Revere, MA), sophomore Nick Travelyn (Manchester, MA) singled to left. With two men on, junior Rory Gentile (Gloucester, MA) doubled deep into left field scoring Addesa to even the game. Senior Paul Vittozzi (North Reading, MA) then hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Travelyn for what would turn out to be the game deciding run.

Jackson cruised the rest of the game, only allowing two hits and one Beaver baserunner to reach third base over the next seven innings. Jackson finished the game striking out five batters to pick up his second win of the season.

The win moves Suffolk to 8-3 on the season, while Babson falls to 8-4. Suffolk plays again on Thursday as they travel to Bridgewater to take on the Bridgewater State Bears in a non-conference matchup. Game time is at 3:30 pm.
