Men's and Women's Soccer Recognized by NSCAA for Academic Team Success

Suffolk University was one of 152 institutions nationally that sponsor both Men’s and Women’s Soccer to have both their programs recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 seasons.

Suffolk was the lone member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) to be recognized on both the Men’s and Women’s side and one of ten schools in the New England region to earn recognition in each.

The Women’s Soccer team accumulated a team grade-point average of 3.27 under Head Coach Ernst Cleophat. It is the fourth time in their program history that they have received recognition by the NSCAA for academic success. They were one of five GNAC teams to garner the team award.

Under Head Coach Andrius Zeikus, the Suffolk Men’s Soccer team posted a 3.15 cumulative grade-point average as a team. They were one of two GNAC schools to be recognized by the NSCAA.

The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the pitch. A total of 726 college soccer teams (222 men, 504 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year
