106 Suffolk Student-Athletes Pick Up CCC All-Academic

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) unveiled a historic list of All-Academic Team honorees with a record-setting 941 student-athletes recognized including 106 Suffolk University Rams on the list, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.  

In order to be recognized as a member of the CCC Academic All-Conference Team a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) and must also have attained sophomore status.  

Suffolk's 106 student-athletes represent the Rams' baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's golf, men's and women's hockey, softball, men's tennis, men's and women's track & field and softball programs. The 106 individuals are the third most institutions wise with Endicott and Salve Regina both leading the way with 134 honorees apiece. Along those numbers, the 941 individuals acknowledged by the conference is the most in the award's history since it was split by semester in 2012-13.  

Ten CCC Scholar-Athlete award winners from were acknowledged on this semester's list including Suffolk's Matyas Csiki-Fejer of the men's track & field team and men's hockey's Joe Feeney. Additionally, there were 21 CCC student-athletes who epitomized that moniker as major award winners in their respective sports, three of which donned the blue-and-gold this semester in Csiki-Fejer, the inaugural men's outdoor track & field CCC Track Athlete of the Year, women's basketball's CCC Defensive Player of the Year Jenni-Rose DiCecco and women's ice hockey CCC Player of the Year Shana Cote.  

In addition to the major award winners there were also 183 student-athletes who were named all-conference in their respective sports, 21 from Suffolk.  

On the league sport level, baseball had the most honorees (126) with Suffolk's squad accounting for 13 of that total.  

In the Rams' ream race, the inaugural CCC Men's Track & Field Championship, Will Feldman's squad let the way with 20 student-athletes earning the distinction. The women's track & field team placed 18 Rams on the list with baseball (13) and men's and women's hockey (12) also seeing double-digit representatives from their teams as well.
