SUFFOLK WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY 2019 SEASON PREVIEW

| view in landscape for a better experience |

RAMS READY TO RUN IN 2019

For our women the goal is simple win conference. Do something that no Suffolk team has ever done. This will be Emma's (Weisse) and Emily’s (Manfra) last season and they have accomplished pretty much everything they can individually. Last year they got a taste of team success when we finished second at conference for the first time ever, and they are all in on winning a team title this year -- Will Feldman, head coach.

COACH'S CORNER

Will Feldman returns for his fourth season at the helm of the Suffolk cross country and track & field programs.

He has brought the Rams to regional and national success in his short term at the helm, coaching the first-ever track & field All-American in Emily Manfra, who accomplished the feat in the mile a year ago.

A year ago, Feldman was recognized by his peers for his efforts as the 2019 GNAC Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year, the first-ever Suffolk head coach to be bestowed the honor.

Aiding Feldman as assistant coaches this season are Josh Brodin and Zeke Smith.

suffolk invite

We will be hosting our second annual Suffolk Invite on Saturday, Oct. This year we are expecting 40 schools to attend. It’s a major event for our program, and it serves as the final tune up before conference.

BATTLE FOR BOSTON COMMON

For the second straight season, Suffolk will go head-to-head with its Beantown neighbor, Emerson. A year ago, the Rams took home the first-ever Battle for Boston Common by a slim 27-28 margin.

RAMS ROSTER

14 runners make up Suffolk's 2019 squad.

GEOGRAPHY 101

The Rams roster is split in half between Massachusetts locals, state side native and one Kenyan. In addition to the Bay State, one student-athlete hails California, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

CLASS CATEGORIES

Suffolk's veterans make up just a quartet of the 14-runner roster with a pair from the junior and senior classes, respectively. The 10 underclassmen are split down the middle between sophomores and freshman.

RAMS RINGLEADERS

For the second straight season, Will Feldman has given leadership roles to Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse as the third-year head coach named the senior pair co-captains for the 2019 season.

Selecting Emily and Emma as captains this year was an easy choice. They have not only rewritten the Suffolk record books and have proven to be two of the best runners in the country, but are the backbone of our program and provide tremendous leadership. They are not only talented, but are two of the hardest working runners that I've ever coached. The amount of confidence that their presence provides to the rest of the team can't be overstated. I'm excited for our freshman to have the opportunity to learn from two of the best this year.

RAMS ROOKIES

Five additions were added to boost the 2019 Rams' roster.

The five members of the Class of 2023 hail from three states and Kenya. Making the cross country commute are Savannah Goddeeris and Marin Stamer who traveled from Imlay City, Michigan, and Big Bear City, California, respectively. Mebra Lubukha journey across the Atlantic from Kenya, while Bay State native's Sarah Lawton and Michelle Riley remained local.

I couldn't be more excited about the group of ladies we have coming in this year. We are returning the individual conference champion in Emma Weisse and runner-up in Emily Manfra, and we were able to surround them with some highly talented freshmen.
