Women’s Cross Country Introduces Five First-Years

2019 SUFFOLK WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ROSTER

BOSTON - The Suffolk women's cross country team has announced five additions to the roster for the 2019 season, according to head coach Will Feldman

"I couldn't be more excited about the group of ladies we have coming in this year," Feldman said. "We are returning the individual conference champion in Emma Weisse and runner-up in Emily Manfra, and we were able to surround them with some highly talented freshmen."

The five members of the Class of 2023 hail from three states and Kenya. Making the cross country commute are Savannah Goddeeris and Marin Stamer who traveled from Imlay City, Michigan, and Big Bear City, California, respectively.

Feldman continued, "Marin (Stamer) and Savannah (Goddeeris) were hug pickups for us. They are the future of the program and I'm thrilled they will have the chance to learn from two of the best distance runners in the country this year in Emma (Weisse) and Emily (Manfra).  Both of them would be impactful freshmen for any Division III team in the country and we are fortunate to have them here at Suffolk."

Mebra Lubukha journeyed across the Atlantic from Kenya.

"Mebra will be a wild card for us this year," said Feldman. "Making the transition from Kenya to the U.S. can sometimes be difficult, but her times put her right with Emma (Weisse) and Emily (Manfra). If things come together she could be a real contender for a spot at Nationals."

Sarah Lawton had the shortest trip to Beacon Hill, making the trek over from Dorchester.

"Sarah is a local BOston athlete who has a ton of untapped potential. She is someone who will contribute in a big way for us this year, but I'm more excited to see how much she improves over the course of her four years at Suffolk. I think the sky is the limit for her."

Michelle Riley is also a Bay State local. The three-time all-league selection brings her talent from Holy Name Central Cathlic in Milville, Massachusetts.
