Women’s Cross Country Runs at 2016 Codfish Bowl

BOSTON – Racing in its third event of 2016, the Suffolk women's cross country team placed 12th at the annual Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park.

Seeing the 5k course at Franklin Park for the first of three times this season freshmen Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse turned in their best collegiate times with both rookies crossing the line in sub-20:00.0 marks. Manfra came through the finishers chute in 19:57 to claim 14th, with her classmate just two seconds behind to take home 16th. The under-20 minute 5k is the best performance by a Ram in recent history.

At nearly 23 minutes, senior Caitlyn Caramello crossed the tape to take 128th. Michelle Kearney was right on her teammates toes as the junior finished five seconds later for 130th. Sophomore Lily Nelson (23:50) and freshamn Madison Veit (26:55) finished in 23:50 (150th) and 26:55 (199th), respectively, to help the Rams claim 12th overall out of 17 teams.

Suffolk takes a two weeks rest before returning to the course in Boston for the Saints Invitational and a head-to-head race against Rivier Friday, Oct. 14.
