  • Volleyball Awarded USMC/AVCA Team Academic

    For the first time since 2021 and fourth time in program history, Suffolk volleyball was recognized for its work inside the classroom as the Rams earned U.S. Marine Corps (USMC)/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 season, the national organization announced.

    Suffolk volleyball saw four student-athletes garner College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in senior Kenzley Bell, junior Emily Wheeler and sophomores Jayla Martinez and Alina Nowakowski.

    For the first time in program history, a Suffolk volleyball player captured a conference major award as Kenzley Bell garnered Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Libero of the Year, the league office unveiled in its postseason awards announce. Bell headlined four All-CCC selections with first-team status, while Harmony Johnson and McKenna Keowen receiving spots on the second team and Alina Nowakowski picking up a third-team nod.

    The fourth-seeded Suffolk volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Semifinals, falling to top-seed Gordon in five sets inside the Bennett Center Thursday night. The Rams season came to an end via set scores 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 23-25 and 15-12.

    Suffolk volleyball had a flare for the dramatic in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinals Tuesday night as the fourth-seeded Rams, won the first set, fell in the next two, and powered through to take down the fifth-seeded Seahawks of Salve Regina at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The victory came via set scores 25-20, 24-26, 14-25, 25-15 and 15-11.

    The fourth-seeded Suffolk volleyball team will host the Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals for the first time in program history tonight, Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the Rams welcome fifth-seeded Salve Regina to Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 7 p.m. first serve.

    For the third time this season, Grace Cervenka of the Suffolk volleyball team picked up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after a 1.83 kps, and 0.67 bps in a 2-0 week for the Rams the league office announced Monday afternoon.

    Suffolk volleyball garnered the fourth seed in the upcoming 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament as announced in the official tournament bracket released by the league office over the weekend.  
  • Volleyball Sweeps Nichols in Regular-Season Finale

    Suffolk volleyball put together a decisive straight set victory over Nichols Saturday morning at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The victory came via set scores 25-19, 25-17 and 25-17 and wrapped the Rams regular-season with 19 triumphs, which ties the most victories in a regular-season in program history.

    Suffolk volleyball concludes its regular-season Saturday, Oct. 29 when Nichols stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) clash. Prior to the 11 a.m. serve, the Rams will recognize its senior captains Kenzley Bell and Harmony Johnson.

    Suffolk volleyball fell behind early in the first frame, came back and never looked back as it defeated the University of New England in straight sets Tuesday night at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court. The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) victory, the Rams’ fifth straight win, four consecutive sweep, came via set scores 25-19, 25-12 and 25-19.

    Suffolk volleyball concludes a hectic stretch of three matches over four days as it hosts Albertus Magnus Thursday, Oct. 20 before visiting Curry Friday, Oct. 21. The non-conference finale versus the Falcons at Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court has a 7 p.m. first serve, while the Commonwealth Coast Conference clash with the Colonels is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
  • Johnson Becomes All-Time Assists Leader, Volleyball Sweeps Roger Williams

    Suffolk volleyball saw history made Tuesday night as Harmony Johnson moved into the top spot on the Rams’ all-time assist list in the teams’ first-ever victory over Roger Williams, a 3-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference decision. The sweeping triumph came via set scores 25-16, 25-20 and 25-12 at the Paolino Recreation Center.

    Kenzley Bell joined Suffolk volleyball elite Saturday afternoon as the third-ever Ram to record 1,000 digs in their career, however, it would not be enough as the blue-and-gold fell to Manhattanville in straight sets at the Hawks Center. The Rams wrapped up action at the Hawks Invitational via set scores 25-9, 25-22 and 25-15.

    Suffolk volleyball began its action at the Hawks Invitational with a 3-0 setback to Misericorida Friday at the Hawks Center. The Rams fell to the Cougars by identical 25-21 scores in all three sets.

    Suffolk volleyball heads up to New Paltz, New York, this weekend for the Hawks Invitational. The Rams will open the weekend, Friday, Oct. 7 versus Misericordia, with New Paltz and Manhattanville on Saturday, Oct. 8’s schedule at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.
