Johnson Grabs GNAC Rookie of the Week Nod

BOSTON – Harmony Johnson of the Suffolk volleyball team picked up GNAC Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Rams go 2-0 in their first tri-match of the year, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Johnson, a setter from Riverside, California, had back-to-back standout performances in Waterville, Maine Saturday. In the five-setting thrilling triumph over Colby, she produced a double-double effort of 39 assists and 15 digs to go along with five kills on a .300 connection rate. Johnson followed that effort with a 33-handout, three-kill, two-ace, one-dig showing in the sweep against Salem State.

The award is not only Johnson's first, but marks the first in the Scott Blanchard era and first since Hannah Fabiano was tabbed the best rookie over a seven day stretch Oct. 2, 2017.

Johnson and the Rams will be on the friendly confines of the Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for the first time this season tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they entertain Boston Commons neighbor Emerson in a 6 p.m. non-conference tilt.
