Volleyball Splits Tri-Match on Saturday

The Suffolk University Volleyball team split a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon hosted by Eastern Nazarene College.

Suffolk fell to the host Lions, 3-1 but defeated the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers, 3-0 to pull their overall season record to 9-9 on the year.

Freshman Savannah Carpenter (Weston, Conn.) combined for 26 kills on the afternoon. Carpenter posted 14 kills in the Rams' victory while also adding a pair of service aces.

Senior Colbey Kennedy (Old Lyme, Conn.) put together 13 digs on the defensive side in each of the Rams two matches, while senior Hailey Atkinson (Branford, Conn.) totaled 18 kills on the day.

Suffolk was victorious 25-19, 25-14 and 25-10 in their three set sweep of the Buccaneers. Senior Sarah Arbogast (Chesterfield, Mo.) chipped in with 12 settings assists in the victory after posting 22 in the opener. Kennedy had a team-high four service aces in the Rams' victories.

Suffolk will be back in action on Tuesday evening as they travel to Rivier University in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at 7:00pm.
