Indoor Track & Field Heads to John Thomas Terrier Invitational this Weekend

 


BOSTON – Suffolk indoor track & field is set to compete at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Invitational this weekend. The women will participate in the event Friday, Jan. 24 with the men going across town Saturday, Jan. 25.

LAST TIME OUT [ MEN ] 
Suffolk men's indoor track & field opened their second semester schedule with a seventh-place performance at the Tufts Invitational Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
Mariama Kamara and Emma Weisse each secured their spots at New Englands to highlight Suffolk women's indoor track & field performances at the Tufts Invitational Saturday at the Gantcher Center.

THE FIELD
Over 80 schools will converge on Boston University's Tennis Center this weekend with Suffolk facing some of the nation's top competition in Texas, Michigan and Northern Arizona, who won three of the last four men's NCAA Division I Cross Country Titles.  

Of the Division III programs participating, the Rams are the lone GNAC member with 10 other DIII members schedule to head to BU: Coast Guard, Colby, MIT, Mount Holyoke, NYU, Smith, Trinity, Tufts, UMass Boston and Wellesley.  

QUALIFYING QUEST
Suffolk has its sights on personal-bests and qualifying for both regionals and nationals.  

Emily Manfra will vie for a 4:56 or faster mile to lock up her spot at nationals with Matyas Csiki-Fejer going for a 8:30 or under in the 3000 for a spot at NCAAs. 

Regionally, Sarah Lawton is trying for a spot in the 500 and 800, respectively. On the men's side, Robert Solari (400), Cole Bolduc (800) and Connor Baston (200) will all run aiming to New Englands. 

RAMS RECOGNITION
Mariama Kamara of the Suffolk women's indoor track & field team was tabbed GNAC Athlete of the Week after her New England Regional qualifying performance at the Tufts Invitational over the weekend.

Suffolk splits its time next weekend when it travels to Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational and Boston University's Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invite.
