Manfra, Weisse Ranked in Preseason USTFCCCA Index

USTFCAAA RELEASE

NEW ORLEANS – Senior co-captains Emily Manfra and Emma Weisse continue to make Suffolk history as the indoor track & field pair appears in the preseason USTFCAAA Rankings in multiple events, the national organization announced Wednesday afternoon.

Manfra made the list three times in the mile, 3000 and 5000 with her classmate joining her in the national ranks in the 3000.

A year ago, Manfra made Ram Nation's headlines as the first-ever track & field athlete to garner All-America status. The Stoneham, Massachusetts, native accomplished the feat in the indoor mile behind a time of 4:57.04. That performance puts her sixth in the preseason rankings along with her GNAC counterpart Pearl Vercruysse of Emmanuel.

In the 3000, Manfra and Weisse each sealed up spots. The former is just outside the top 25 in 26th thanks to her third-place finish at last weekend's Beantown Challenge. As the only DIII student-athlete to compete at the event, which featured foes from top athletes in the New England region including Boston College, Harvard, Holy Cross, UConnand UMass Amherst, she put together the fourth-best finish in DIII this season, clocking in at 10:03.20.

Weisse, meanwhile, made the list at 31 behind her 2019 NCAA DIII Championship time of 10:11.72. The dynamic duo is the lone GNAC athletes ranked in the 3000.

Manfra also earned a spot in the 5000. The distance runner's 17:49.66 time, which she notched at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational December 7, 2019, is good for 33rd.
