WBCA RELEASE 

ATLANTA – The Suffolk women's basketball team's strong performance in the classroom paid off by the away of Academic Honor Roll Honorable Mention status from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), the organization announced. 

"The WBCA is pleased to recognize those women's basketball programs that have committed themselves to excellence on the court and in the classroom," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. "The 112 teams we honor this year strive to achieve all-around success and we commend their efforts."

Suffolk posted a grade point average of 3.608 for the 2023-24 academic year, receiving special mention along with Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) counterpart Gordon (3.242).  

The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes the NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year college women's basketball team across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2023-24 season is the 29th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls. Suffolk has earned a spot in the top 25 three times with the last coming in 2016-17.  

It is the third year in which all teams that qualified for the top 25 rankings with a minimum 3.0 GPA were recognized for their academic accomplishment. Suffolk has earned that distinction each year it has been handed out.
