BOSTON – The Suffolk women's basketball team is headed to the Sunshine State where it will compete in the Naples Shootout Dec. 29-30. The Rams, who ride a four-game win streak into the tournament's action, will face No. 4/6 Tufts Saturday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m., before facing Saint Mary's (Md.) the following day at 1 p.m. All games are set to take place at the Community School of Naples and will be live broadcast here.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk women's basketball ran its win streak to four as the Rams rallied to defeat Clark, 62-49, Dec. 11 at the Kneller Athletic Center.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk has yet to be defeated in December with its four consecutive wins putting the Rams at 8-3 on the season. 

The blue-and-gold's offense has been firing on all cylinders as of late with three different Rams producing double figures to contribute to the team's 67.4 ppg output. Jenni-Rose DiCecco leads the way with 17.6 ppg with Alexis Hackett and Jordan Hipwell each pitching in 10.2 ppg. 

Defensively, Hackett's 11.6 rpg pace Suffolk's 41.5 rpg. The junior receives help on the glass from DiCecco and Hipwell, who chip in 6.5 rpg and 5.4 rpg, respectively.

TALK 'BOUT TUFTS
The Saturday showdown with Tufts will be one of Suffolk's toughest match ups to date as the Jumbos venture south with an unblemished 9-0 mark. Tufts enters the tournament at No. 4 in the latest D3Hoops.com poll and No. 6 in the WBCA poll. 

The Jumbos' 86.3 ppg offense is well-balanced with a trio of players registering double figures in Emily Briggs (13.3 ppg), Jac Knapp (13.0 ppg) and Erica deCandido (12.2 ppg). Jannette Wadolowski is on the cusps of double digits with 9.6 ppg to her credit.

On the glass its DeCandido leading the way with 6.1 rpg. Molly Ryan adds 5.7 rpg to Tufts' 45.0 rpg effort.

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk and Tufts will renew a rivalry, which dates back to the Rams first season, 1983-84.
  • The Rams trail the all-time series with the Jumbos, 1-9.
  • Tufts rattled off the first nine victories in the all-time meetings with the Rams coming out on the winning side in the last face-off, 59-57, Nov. 17, 2006 at Endicott.

EYES ON THE GAME

SEAHWAKS SAYINGS
St. Mary's (3-7) heads to Florida for a pair of contests and will first take on Immaculata prior to facing Suffolk on Sunday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. 

The pair of Katie Robey and Hallie Persell anchors the Seahawks' 58.7 ppg offense. The former provides 11.2 ppg, while the latter tallies 10.8 ppg. Kyaira Priest (9.6 ppg) and Gina Seifert (8.8 ppg) are also consistent contributors to the offense. 

St. Mary's defense is paced by Persell's 9.0 rpg and Seifert's 7.4 rpg.

Following Suffolk's trip, the Rams take a break for the New Year holiday and will be back in action Tuesday, Jan. 8 when it welcomes Rivier to Regan Gymnasium for a 6 p.m. conference clash.
