Quadri, Ruys Lead Women's Basketball Past Roger Williams, 71-56

Junior Iliana Quadri (Sudbury, Mass.) and senior Jennifer Ruys (Wallingford, Conn.) combined for 38 points as the Suffolk University Women's Basketball team topped the Roger Williams University Hawks, 71-56 in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the Regan Gymnasium.

Quadri finished the evening with a game-high 20 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field, while Ruys knocked in 12 of her game's 18 points in the second half as the Rams improve to 4-1 to start the season.

Senior Kaitlyn Bovee (Berlin, Conn.) led the Hawks with a team-high 12 points as they suffer their first defeat on the young campaign and move to a 4-1 overall mark.

Roger Williams jumped out early in the contest as they would open things up with a 10-0 run to start things in the first two and a half minutes of play. Suffolk would answer things after a timeout to go on a 13-3 run when sophomore Chelsea Campellone (Fall River, Mass.) connected on a layup to make things even at 13-13 with 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Quadri would connect on a jumper with forty seconds remaining in the period to give Suffolk a 28-24 lead heading into halftime. Campellone would finish the half with nine rebounds and eight points, while Quadri was 4-for-6 from the field in the opening twenty minutes.

Freshman Katie Lowerre (Sharon, Mass.) would get the Hawks within a point when her layup eight minutes into the second half made it a 40-39 game.

After Bovee connected on a three-pointer with 4:19 remaining in the game, Suffolk would go on a 13-3 run to close out the game.

Junior Tori Brillaud (North Andover, Mass.) would go a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line as part of a six-point second half performance to help pace Suffolk.

Campellone led all rebounds in the contest with 10, as Suffolk held a 44-26 edge on the glass in the game.

Sophomore Angelica Ariola (Prospect, Conn.) chipped in with eight points on the evening for the Hawks, while senior Ari Renwick (Westwood, Mass.) was 3-for-8 from three point land for an 11 point night.

Both teams will be back in action following the Thanksgiving holiday. Roger Williams hosts Rhode Island College on December 1st at 4:00pm. Suffolk will travel to Curry College on December 2nd at 7:00pm.
