Cross Country to Run at NCAA New England Regionals Saturday


BOSTON – Suffolk cross country will compete against the best-of-the-best in the regional Saturday, Nov. 16 as the Rams trek to Brunswick, Maine for the 2019 NCAA Division III New England Regionals hosted by Bowdoin. Members of Ram Nation can watch the race via a live stream here

EVENTS SCHEDULE
9:00 a.m. – Course Opens
10:35 a.m. – National Anthem 
11:300 a.m. – Men's 8K Race 
12:15 p.m. – Women's 6K Race
1:30 p.m. – Awards Ceremony – Farley Field House  

THE COURSE
The men and women will each be competing on a course that surrounds Bowdoin's athletic complex. A map of the men's 8K can be found here, with the women's 6K outline here

Suffolk is sending a hefty contingent to Vacation Land to compete at regionals with each team bringing eight student-athletes, seven set to run and one alternate on either side.

A YEAR AGO 
Matyas Csiki-Fejer and Emily Manfra of the Suffolk men's and women's cross country teams, respectively, made program history November 10 as the duo ran to all-region accolades at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals hosted by Bowdoin.

RAMS REGIONAL HISTORY
Suffolk's men's squad will make its second straight regional run and fourth in program history. The Rams, who debuted on the regional scene in 2009 had their best showing last season with a 29th-place performance.  

The women, meanwhile, will be making their fifth regional run. Last season, Suffolk put together its best performance, finishing 32nd. 

LAST TIME OUT [ MEN ] 
Matyas Csiki-Fejer 
became the first-ever Suffolk men's cross country male runner to capture the individual cross at the GNAC Championships to pace the Rams to a third-place showing November 2 at the SJC Course.

LAST TIME OUT [ WOMEN ] 
In the first-ever 6K GNAC Championship, Suffolk women's cross country shined with a second-place overall showing highlighted by Emily Manfra's individual crown November 2 at the Saint Joseph's (Maine) Course.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS
Two weeks ago, Emily Manfra and Matyas Csiki-Fejer proved themselves the best against the GNAC counterparts as the pair topped the conference champions course in Standish, Maine. First-time individual league champions, the pair each picked up GNAC Runner of the Year status in their respective divisions as well as all-conference first-team nods to highlight a handful of all-league recognition for the blue-and-gold including Will Feldman's second straight GNAC Women's Coach of the Year honor.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The top two, seven-person teams from each of the eight regional sites punch their ticket to the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. In addition, the top seven individual runners, who were not on a qualifying team, from each regional race will secure their spot in Louisville, Kentucky Saturday, Nov. 23.
