Cross-Country Teams Compete at Raiders Invitational

The Suffolk University Cross-Country teams competed at the Raiders Invitational host by Rivier University on Friday afternoon in Nashua, New Hampsire.

The Women's team placed second overall in their 5K, while the Men placed third.

Two women placed among the top 10 finishers in Friday's competition as senior Bridget Evangelista (Newburyport, Mass.) was the Rams' top runner completing the race with a time of 22:51 for a fifth place finish. Senior Cori Simmons (Standish, Me.) placed seventh overall as she came in at 24:02. Rounding out the field were junior Kelly Warwick (Newburyport, Mass.) with a time of 24:54, senior Nicole Beerman (Olympia, Wash.) who finished in 26:35 and senior Rachel Allen (Stonington, Conn.) at 33:55. Suffolk finished with 51 total team points in the three team field.

On the men's side freshman Nathan Pemberton (Holbrook, Mass.) placed fifth among all runners as he comleted the race in 29:25. Junior Eric Ramirez (Natick, Mass.) placed 11th overall as he crossed the finish line at 31:42. Completing the trek for Suffolk were sophomore Eddie Lui (Boston, Mass.) who came in at 34:19, sophomore Sina Shafiezadeh (San Diego, Calif.) with a time of 36:04, and freshman Chris Williams (Bridgeport, Conn.) with a time of 41:10. The men placed third in the four team field with total of 81 points.

Suffolk will be idle for two weeks until October 12th when they travel to Westfield State University for their next competition.
