BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey has a full-weekend ahead against Johnson & Wales as the NEHC travel partners meet in a home-and-home series. The Rams will first wrap up their five-game homestand Friday, Jan. 24 with the Military Appreciation Game at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink at 7 p.m., before traveling to the Wildcats' Lynch Arena the next day, Saturday, Jan. 25 for a 4 p.m. puck drop.

SALUTE THE TROOPS
For the second straight season, Suffolk men's hockey will skate in honor of those who have and are serving the armed forces with a Military Appreciation Game Friday, Jan. 24 against Johnson & Wales at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink in Charlestown.

LAST TIME OUT
Four unanswered goals pushed Skidmore past Suffolk men's ice hockey on Saturday evening at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink in NEHC action.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk picked up one conference point last weekend with a 4-4 draw against No. 5 Hobart, before slipping to Skidmore, 4-1, to head into the week 5-10-2 overall and 1-7-2 in NEHC play. 

Fourteen of the Rams' 42 goals have been scored over the last two weekends. Brian Brooks leads the way offensively with team top numbers in all offensive categories including five goals, nine assists and 14 points. Devin Lowe is second on the squad in overall points (9) and helpers (7). Jack KellyAlex Kolowrat and Nick Lachaine are all scoring threats for Suffolk with four goals each.  

Cal Wilcox has become a staple in between the pipes for the blue-and-gold. The Rams' rookie holds a 3-6-2 record over 12 appearances, 11 starts, with an .888 save percentage and 4.39 GAA. 

WILDCATS WAYS
A six-game skid has put Johnson & Wales at 3-14-0 on the season with the Wildcats still in the hunt for their first NEHC win of the season, sitting 0-10-0 against league foes.  

Matt Bernot and Connor Bechtel power JWU's 36-goal offense. Bernot has handed out nine assists and scored six times to top the team in all categories with 15 points. Bechtel joins his classmate in double digit points with 10 with eight helpers and two strikes. Kodi Legassie has found the back of the net five times to be a scoring threat as well.  

Mike Rockwell Jr. is the usual go-to goalie for the Wildcats. In 14 appearances, 13 starts, he has compiled a 4.63 GAA and .891 save percentage and owns each of JWU's wins in net this year.  

INSIDE THE SERIES

  • Suffolk swept the two-game series with JWU a year ago for the first time in program history to move to 8-22-3 all-time against the Wildcats. 
  • The Rams' three wins in a row versus Johnson & Wales is a first for Suffolk in the all-time series.

Suffolk remains on the road next weekend when it visits New England College and Southern Maine. The Rams will first head to the Granite State Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:00 p.m. before heading to the Vacation Land Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4:00 p.m.
