BOSTON – The Suffolk men's hockey team looks to return to the win column Thursday, Nov. 10 as the Rams head to Western New England for a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest at 7:30 p.m. at Olympia Ice Center.

LAST TIME OUT
The Suffolk men's hockey team suffered a 6-0 setback at Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Nov. 5 at Portsmouth Abbey.

RUNDOWN ON THE RAMS
Suffolk is on a two-game skid after dropping a 3-1 decision to Becker in its season and CCC opener and a 6-0 setback at Salve Regina to move to 1-2-0 on the season and 0-2-0 against conference competition.

Ten different Rams have recorded a point on Suffolk's (1-1-0, 0-1-0 CCC) young season led by Tommy Bishop, who put together a career-day of four points on two goals and two handouts in the Rams' season opener at Assumption Oct. 29. Mikhail Bryan (2-0-2), LJ Fellows (0-2-2), Simon Leahy (1-1-2) and Nick Mosher (1-1-2) all have multiple point efforts to their credit. 

All three of Suffolk's goaltenders have seen the ice this season. Sophomore Michael Levine has the most action, 119:47, with 70 saves and six goals allowed for a save percentage of .921 and a 3.01 goals-against average. Across two periods against the Seahawks senior Kevin Venturoso put together a 17-save effort (.773), but let five pucks past him (7.50), while Will Ribas saw the first action of his collegiate career. The freshman netminder made 11 saves (.917) and let up one goal (3.00). 

Collectively, the Rams three-headed goaltending tangent boasts an .891 save percentage and a .400 goals-against average. 

GET TO KNOW THE GOLDEN BEARS
Western New England has reversed action from Suffolk to carry an identical 1-2-0 overall mark, but holds a 1-1-0 ledger in league play.  The Golden Bears opened the season with back-to-back setbacks, first a 4-1 defeat to Westfield State, before a 7-1 setback at Johnson & Wales. Western New England picked up its first win of the season and CCC play against the University of New England, 4-2, last Saturday. 

Eleven different Golden Bears have notched a point on the young season with six skaters finding the back of the net. A handful tie for the team top in points (2) in Matthieu Audet (1-1-2), Andrew Green (0-2-2), Stefan Koproske (1-1-2), Matt O'Dea (1-1-2) and Matt Smethurst (1-1-2). 

Kevin Gollmer has played all, but 10 minutes in net for Western New England with Baylee Johns playing in relief. Gollmer boasts a .880 save percentage with 95 stops and a 4.60 goals-against average, giving up 13 in three outings. 

THE SERIES
Suffolk heads to West Springfield for its 32nd meeting with Western New England since 1999-2000. The Rams opened up the all-time series with a 6-3 victory and have gone on to take a 17-13-1 advantage against the Bears, winning the last four meetings. 

EYES ON THE GAME

CCC FROZEN FIRST
Simon Leahy's first goal of the season turned out to be a historic one as the senior from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was the first player across the CCC to find the back of the netting on the inaugural night of play for the first-year league. Since the tally was on the power play, he added to the historics, as the forward also became the first CCC skater to put one away on the man advantage opportunity. 

CCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tommy Bishop of the Suffolk men's hockey team will go down in history as the first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week as the sophomore grabbed the initial award of the inaugural season after a career opening night, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.

Suffolk returns to the friendly confines of Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Saturday, Nov. 12 for a home matchup against Wentworth. Puck drop between the conference rivals is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
