rams set to Tee off 2019 campaign

We're really looking forward to this season as we have a strong group of returning players that hopefully can put it all together and do something special -- Ed McMellen, head coach

COACH'S CORNER

Ed McMellen returns for his 17th year in 2019.

In his tenure, he has guided four rams to All-GNAC honors, the most recent being Owen Boggini for his performances in the 2018 GNAC Championship.

McMellen is aided by William Cunningham, who returns for his third season as assistant coach.

schedule synopsis

Two championships highlight the men's golf calendar, along with a pair of two-day tournaments and RIC Homecoming Invitational Oct. 4 as a warmup.

Schedule is the best we've had since my time here. The addition of Middlebury is huge as it has a strong field and we will see early on how we stack up.
  • SEPT. 14-15 | Duke Nelson Invitational | Middlebury, Vt.
  • SEPT. 29-30 | Blazers Invitational | Amherst, Mass.
  • OCT. 4 | RIC Homecoming Invitational | Warwick, R.I.
  • OCT. 12-13 | GNAC Championships | Gorham, Maine.
  • OCT. 19-20 | NEIGA Championships | Brewster, Mass.

RAMS ROSTER

Eight golfers make-up the 2019 Suffolk men's golf team roster.

GEOGRAPHY 101

The Rams come to Boston from from four different states, with more then half calling the Bay State home.

Three Rams hail from outside of Massachusetts with one student-athlete each coming from Connecticut, New York, and Vermont.

Class Categories

The 2019 group holds experience with seven returners stepping back into the tee box. Overall, six upperclassmen lead the team, split between five seniors and one junior. Meanwhile, one sophomore and one true freshman make up the rest of the squad.

rams ringleader

Elias Sachs has been dubbed captain for the 2019 Suffolk men's golf team. Sachs holds the honor of being the Rams first official captain under Ed McMellen's leadership.

Elias has been a great leader over the last two seasons and I expect that to continue as the captain of the team this year. This is the first time in 15 years I have officially named a captain and Elias is worthy of that honor.

RAMS ROOKIES

Head coach Ed McMellen added one member of Suffolk's Class of 2023 to the Rams' men's golf roster for the 2019-20 campaign in true freshman Shawn Nosky.

I'm looking forward to Shawn joining the team. His talent adds great depth to a veteran line-up this year. I'm excited for him to contribute, not only this year, but throughout his four years here.
