Men’s Golf Has Historic Sixth Place Finish at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf closed out its 2019 fall schedule in record setting fashion with the best team showing at the 85th New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship as the Rams claimed sixth over the two-day event.  

The Rams have not broken into the top ten in recent history let alone finish higher than a share for 12th in 2017. Suffolk's success was behind a team card of 639. After the first day on the green, the blue-and-gold sat in a share of sixth and closed the action with a 322 on day two.  

Owen Boggini had the best-known individual performance in recent history and according the year-by-year record book, which date through the 2008 season, with a tie for 12th. He shaved four strokes off his day one card of 80 to boast a 156 after the two days on the green to become the first Ram to take home All-NEIGA honors with a spot on the second team.  

Although Andrew Harper was just three strokes behind his classmate after producing a 74 and 85 to share 25th.  

Demetrois Stamoulis tied for 42nd with an overall score of 163 shooting almost identical cards of 82 and 81, respectively. 

Elias Sachs and Brian Dunleavy rounded out the Rams' golfers. Sachs posted a 166, while Dunleavy shot a 169. 

The Rams will take the winter off before returning to the green for the annual three-tournament spring season.
